Legislators Have Get-Out-Of-Jail Free Card Under Colorado Law

Two sets of laws in this country. One set for us, the peasants, and another for law-enforcement/lawmakers.



Not the outcome you intended? What else was that law going to be used for? People in Colorado are just lucky she didn't decide to murder someone. Makes me wonder how many other states have laws like that on the books, or the Federal government for that matter, which makes lawmakers immune so long as they are "on the clock" so to speak.

Now having said all of that, I don't blame this woman one bit for not waiving her immunity. How stupid would that be?

'The Hobbit' Was No Nazi

German publishers Rutten & Loening Verlag wrote author J.R.R. Tolkien to ask if he was of Aryan descent, before translating and publishing his famous tale "The Hobbit" in 1938. He penned to letters in response. One that was lost during WWII, and this one which was unsent:

Dear Sirs,


Thank you for your letter... I regret that I am not clear as to what you intend by aryan. I am not of Aryan extraction: that is Indo-iranian; as far as I am aware none of my ancestors spoke Hindustani, Persian, Gypsy, or any related dialects. But if I am to understand that your are enquiring whether I am of Jewish origin, I can only reply that I regret that I appear to have no ancestors of that gifted people. My great-great-grandfather came to England in the eighteenth century from Germany: the main part of my descent is therefore purely English, and I am an English subject -- which should be sufficient. I have been accustomed, nonetheless, to regard my German name with pride, and continue to do so throughout the period of the late regrettable war, in which I served in the English army. I cannot, however, forbear to comment that if impertinent and irrelevant inquiries of this sort are to become the rule in matters of literature, then the time is not far distant when a German name will no longer be a source of pride.


Your inquiry is doubtless made in order to comply with the laws of your own country, but that this should be held to apply to the subjects of another state would be improper, even if it had (and it had not) any bearing whatsoever on the merits of my work or its suitability for publication, of which you appear to have satisfied yourselves without reference to my origins (Abstammung).

Occult Superbowl Half-Time?

I think people spend way too much time becoming zombies in front of the boob-tube, but I've always enjoyed the Super Bowl. I guess we all need some pop-culture mainlined once in a while. It was a great game, Go Giants! I even thought the half-time show was pretty kick ass, one of the best I have seen in a long time.

But I'll tell you what, I was a bit unnerved at how blatant the symbology there was. It was straight up Illuminati occult ritual. Madonna has been deep into esoteric knowledge for years now. This guy gets a little long-winded and you might not be too clear on what he is talking about if you don't have a working knowledge of conspiracy theory, but it's worth a watch here...
