New Age or Old Nick?

The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey is really the book of self-worship, with manifestation in the physical realm brought about through ritual. The pseudo-religious metaphysics talked about in movements like The Secret or the so-called Teachings of Abraham, are also clearly self-oriented and purport that physical manifestation can be brought about by sheer will. Ritual magick is really nothing more than the orientation and focus of the will.

Either way, it seems like having the ability to manifest physical reality to one’s own liking would be desirable. However, I would draw the line at doing so to the detriment of others, lest that manifestation become what I would consider to be inherently evil. This is the point where I questioned these New Age teachings which I have been exposed to lately. There was an interview on Larry King that I watched recently, but was taped sometime last year I believe. This New Age material was the topic of discussion, and the question was asked about what one should do about friends and family who were not on the same “path” as those who were getting involved in this New Age metaphysical movement. The answer was to basically let them fall by the way-side. That the more a person manifested and attracted that which they desired, the people and things that were not in accordance with that would fall away as a matter of course.

Well, that seems to me to be a convenient way to abandon friends and family who might be having troubles and are not on the same “spiritual path.” You should feel no guilt in abandoning the people you love, because this is really their own doing and once they realize this they will begin “manifesting” for themselves.

Now this brings up another problem. According to these teachings, you can have whatever you want and are really only limited by your own belief as to whether or not you can have them. If you don’t have what you need or want, it is simply because you have not gotten on the right sort of “frequency” to manifest it. And they take it further than the Satanists. If there are things in your life that are not desirable, you are actually manifesting those things as well, apparently through flaws in your own thought process. Your own negative thoughts and doubts are attracting all the bad things in your life.

I’m starting to have a problem with this. If I get shot in the head it was my fault, I attracted it? Suddenly I am left feeling like this whole thing is really just another scheme to prey on the people who really need help the most, while conveniently blaming them for their own plight. Another plot by the Satanic elite to divide the people and absolve themselves of their responsibilities to the people?

Pope Resigns, Rise of 'Petrus Romanus' and End of Days Prophecy

In a shocking headline this morning, we learn that Pope Benedict XVI will resign as of February 28. The only reasons given is failing health, despite the fact that he will be the first Pope to not go to the pearly gates while in office in over 600 years.

This strange turn of events has electrified the conspiracy-theory community and has left devout followers trembling in fear of the Prophecy of Saint Malachy.

(Reuters) - Pope Benedict said on Monday he will resign on Feb 28 because he no longer has the strength to fulfill the duties of his office, becoming the first pontiff since the Middle Ages to take such a step. 

The 85-year-old pope said he had noticed that his strength had deteriorated over recent months "to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me. For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter," he said according to a statement from the Vatican. 

A Vatican spokesman said the pontiff would step down from 1900 GMT on February 28, leaving the office vacant until a successor is chosen.

This now sets the stage for a prophecy to be fulfilled, culminating in the destruction of Rome and the end of days. While some dismiss this entirely, it certainly is curious how accurate the prophecy has actually been throughout the ages.

The Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to Saint Malachy, is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few anti-popes), beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with the successor of current pope Benedict XVI, a pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome. 

Provenance 

The prophecy was first published in 1595 by Arnold de Wyon, a Benedictine historian, as part of his book Lignum Vitæ. Wyon attributed the list to Saint Malachy, the 12th‑century bishop of Armagh in Ireland. According to the traditional account, in 1139, Malachy was summoned to Rome by Pope Innocent II. While in Rome, Malachy purportedly experienced a vision of future popes, which he recorded as a sequence of cryptic phrases. This manuscript was then deposited in the Roman Archive, and thereafter forgotten about until its rediscovery in 1590.

On the other hand, Bernard of Clairvaux's biography of Malachy makes no mention of the prophecy, nor is it mentioned in any record prior to its 1595 publication.^[1] Some sources, including the most recent editions of the Catholic Encyclopedia, suggest that the prophecy is a late 16th‑century forgery. Some have suggested that it was created by Nostradamus and was credited to Saint Malachy so the purported seer would not be blamed for the destruction of the papacy. Supporters, such as author John Hogue, who wrote a popular book titled The Last Pope about the claims, generally argue that, even if the author of the prophecies is uncertain, the predictions are still valid.

Author and publisher with a specialty in End Times and prophecy, Tom Horn, discussed his new research on the prophecy of the Popes, and how 2012 will be the fulfillment of St. Malachy's prediction that the Catholic Church will see one final Pope before its destruction. Almost 900 years ago, the Irish seer, St. Malachy, came to Rome and "suddenly had this frenzied vision in which he wrote down the descriptives of every Pope that would ever exist from his day to the final Pope," Horn reported. According to Malachy's prophesied list, the next Pope after the current one (Pope Benedict) will be the last one, #112. This final Pope, Petrus Romanus (or Peter the Roman) will lead the Church into the great tribulation period and the destruction of Rome. Some Catholic mystics believe he will be an infiltrator under Satanic control. Evangelical prophecy refers to this person as the "False Prophet" who helps to usher in the Antichrist, Horn continued.

If an Italian is voted in as the next Pope, that could be the fulfillment of Malachy's prophecy, Horn noted, adding that a number of church scholars going back hundreds of years have cited 2012 as the year when the False Prophet emerges. This timing coincides with other prophetic material such as from the Mayans, and Cherokee, as well as the Kabbalah's Zohar book, which named 2012 as the year when the Messiah returns, he detailed. Further, in 1951, a French Jesuit named Rene Thibaut, a codebreaker and mathematician, verified the accuracy of Malachy's predictions, and calculated that Petrus Romanus would arrive in 2012.

Horn also spoke about the late Father Malachi Martin's warning of a secret plan by the "Illuminati/Freemasons" to infiltrate the Vatican and use it to bring about a New World Order. A friend of Martin's, Father Alfred Kunz, was murdered, and Martin believed he was killed by Satanists at the Vatican. The case is still unsolved, and Horn has investigated the possible conspiracy. Some have said that Petrus Romanus will not actually be a Pope at all, but will lead the Church in the days when the seat is left vacant, as an agent of Satan. That interpretation is certainly up for discussion at this point, with this "last Pope" now vacating the post.

Shrunken-Head Proved Genuine Through DNA, Supporting Head-Hunting Myth

The myth of the "shrunken-head" has now been proved to be real through DNA.

Through the years, many skeptics have thought of the myth of the shrunken head as a circus stunt and carnival attraction. Many people never really believed that it was possible, or that anyone actually did shrink the decapitated heads of their enemies. Instead, skeptics chose to believe that these artifacts were merely a macabre "snake-oil" of sorts, made to stir the imagination and charm the coin from the pockets of the unwitting.

Although head-hunting has been a common practice in many parts of the world through the centuries, head-shrinking is only known to have been practiced in the northwestern region of the Amazon rainforest. The process is fairly well documented, but the idea of an actual shrunken-head has been thought to be fraudulent by many. While most have proven to be forgeries, as many as 20% of those traded are thought to be genuine. Trade for goods such has guns and even cash have fueled shrunken-head trade since the 1800's. Import to the U.S. was mad illegal in the 1940's.

While many people have accepted that there is at least some truth to the head-hunting mythology of the Amazon, others remained skeptical. Today, we have genetic proof that the "shrunken-head" is a legitimate phenomenon, making mythology more literal than imaginary.

A remarkably well-preserved shrunken head has just been authenticated by DNA analysis, which provides strong evidence that anecdotal accounts of violent head-hunting in South America were true. 

The study, published in the latest issue of Archaeological and Anthropological Sciences, marks the first successful effort to unveil the genetic make-up of a shrunken head. 

"The shrunken heads were made from enemies' heads cut on the battlefield," co-author Gila Kahila Bar-Gal told Discovery News. "Then, during spiritual ceremonies, enemies' heads were carefully reduced through boiling and heating, in the attempt to lock the enemy's spirit and protect the killers from spiritual revenge."

The Pentagon’s DARPA lab has announced a milestone, but it doesn’t involve drones or death missiles. Scientists at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency say they’ve produced 10 million doses of an influenza vaccine in only one month’s time.

Drawing a Swastika is a Felony in NYS

This is absolutely ludicrous. A teenager has been charged with a FELONY for drawing on a sidewalk with baby oil. Now granted, he did draw a Swastika in a predominantly Jewish community, but in this day and age it is hardly surprising that a teenager might be desensitized to the meaning of the symbol, and detached from the history of it.

Man charged with drawing a swastika on a Monroe sidewalk 

VILLAGE OF MONROE – A Monroe man has been arrested and charged with felony aggravated harassment in the first degree for drawing a swastika on a Monroe village sidewalk late Wednesday night. 

The incident at the Millpond walkway in the center of the village was reported to Monroe Police by residents of the Hasidic village of Kiryas Joel. Responding officers found the symbol was made out of some sort of oil. 

A group of five men were nearby and the callers advised that one of them had drawn it. Police searched the men and found one had a 20 ounce bottle of baby oil in his backpack. Kumani Scott, 19, admitted he had drawn the swastika, saying he was just being stupid with friends and that he didn’t mean anything by it. Scott was also charged with misdemeanor making graffiti.

Police said the Millpond Park and walkway, where the incident occurred, are used by people at all hours of the day and night and there have been very few incidents of this nature in that area. 

“While the man arrested may not have meant anything by it, like he told the investigating officers, the swastika has a strong meaning to many people, and we take these types of incidents very seriously, as do New York State lawmakers, which is why New York State law classifies the drawing of a swastika on any public place a felony,” said Detective James Franklid.

I couldn't believe what I read there, so I had to look it up in the NYS Penal Code myself.

S 240.31 Aggravated harassment in the first degree. A person is guilty of aggravated harassment in the first degree when with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person, because of a belief or perception regarding such person`s race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability or sexual orientation, regardless of whether the belief or perception is correct, he or she: 
...
3. Etches, paints, draws upon or otherwise places a swastika, commonly exhibited as the emblem of Nazi Germany, on any building or other real property, public or private, owned by any person, firm or corporation or any public agency or instrumentality, without express permission of the owner or operator of such building or real property;

Now don't get me wrong here, I am not insensitive to what meaning would likely be taken by a Jewish person seeing that symbol drawn on a sidewalk. It will likely evoke sad memories of the past, and might even cause some fear, wondering if someone has intended to make a threat of some sort. But there are some other things to consider as well.

The meaning of the Swastika is interpretive, not set. The symbol itself was used for thousands of years before it was ever adopted by the Nazis. In fact today it is still widely used throughout Asia as a religious symbol and a symbol of good fortune. Which means that if you are a Buddhist, and decide to etch one of your religious symbols in the dirt at a park, you are now a FELON.

Now let's really think about that for a second too. What it really means to be a felon. In essence, you have your rights as a citizen stripped from you for the rest of your life. You can no longer vote, you can no longer own a firearm, you can't get a visa, you can no longer get public assistance, you are barred from Federally funded housing, and your job prospects are certainly narrowed by more than just the fact that you are also barred from holding all sorts of professional licenses. To impose this harsh punishment on a teenager, essentially destroying his life,  for something so trivial is absolutely absurd. Not to mention actually sending him to prison for it, at substantial cost to the taxpayer. Keep in mind here too, we aren't talking about a week in the county jail. This young man stands to spend more than a year in prison if convicted. And for what? Because he unwittingly offended a religious faction?

Granted, he no doubt did it to be irritating and "rebellious" as teenagers are often want to be, but it is quite likely that he had no idea whatsoever that what he was doing was a felony. As I said at the start, most kids today probably don't even fully grasp the meaning behind the Nazified symbol, or the history of what happened. For a mischievous teenager, drawing a swastika is no different than drawing a pentagram or an inverted cross, or the anarchy "A" symbol. Now we might point finger and say "well he should have known better" but that still doesn't make him a criminal, under the principle of mens rea.

Heck, it's not even like the kid used spray paint or even a marker, he used baby oil. A substance that is not permanent and causes no damage. Which now brings up the misdemeanor graffiti charge. He cannot even be found guilty of that, because the penal code states that the person must have intended to cause damage. Baby oil does not cause damage to stone or cement any more than a piece of chalk would.

S 145.60  Making graffiti. 1. For purposes of this section, the term "graffiti" shall mean the etching, painting, covering, drawing upon or otherwise placing of a mark upon public or private property with intent to damage such property.

In essence, what this "swastika law" says, is that even a child playing with chalk on the sidewalk in front of their house, is a felon if they draw an "x" with legs on it. And speaking of "chalking," Federal courts have ruled that this sort of non-damaging graffiti is protected free speech.

After a cost of eighteen days in a cage and a few months of legal threats, there is good news to report on chalking freedom out of Orlando, Florida. The ABA Journal published yesterday that Timothy Osmar, who was twice arrested for chalking at the Orlando city hall plaza, had his rights violated when he was legally kidnapped over protected political speech. US district magistrate David Baker’s ruling deemed the arrest for violation of a city ordinance to be an overreach of a code designed to prevent unauthorized commercial advertising.

So at the end of the day this kid might very well go to prison for offending some Jewish people. Don't we have more serious things to worry about in this country? Isn't imposing an inordinately harsh punishment the real crime here? Again, I am not saying that what he did was proper. I could see imposing a fine, or doing a little bit of community service for a charge of disorderly conduct perhaps, but this is just nuts. You can shout at someone and call them a nigger or a cracker, you can write "fuck the police" in chalk on the steps of city hall, but you better not offend a Jew in New York.

Teacher Responsible for Cuts and Burns on Children in Demonic Ritual

Florida - Danielle Harkins, 35, was a literacy skills teacher. Now she faces child abuse charges stemming from a bizarre incident in which she encouraged former students to cut and burn themselves in order to cast out evil spirits that were lurking in their bodies.

The teacher is alleged to have brought seven teens to a spot near a St. Petersburg pier, where a fire was started, which they danced around and chanted. The teacher is suspected of then telling the students that they must be cut, to release evil spirits, and that the wound must then be cauterized in order to prevent the spirit from returning. Two children were cut, one in the neck, who then had their wound cauterized with a burning house key. The other had perfume poured over the wound, which the teacher then lit on fire with a cigarette lighter.


The event only came to light after one of the teens texted a friend about it, who in turn told their own parents. The six boys and one girl who were involved are not being cooperative with police.

Harkins is recently divorced and has two young children.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The CBS 3 I-Team has learned that a Catholic priest who was removed from the ministry over sex abuse allegations now holds a sensitive security post at Philadelphia International Airport. 

The security checkpoint between Terminals D and E is a busy place where thousands of people – including lots of kids – pass through every day. But you might not believe who the I-Team observed working as a TSA supervisor at that checkpoint this week: Thomas Harkins.

 Until 2002, Harkins was a Catholic priest working at churches across South Jersey. But the Diocese of Camden removed him from ministry because it found he sexually abused two young girls. Now, in a new lawsuit, a third woman is claiming she also is one of Harkins’ victims.

Now in this piece the TSA is saying that they do background checks on their people, but that this persons' record is "too old" for them to uncover the details on. So I suppose if you blew up an airliner back in the 70's, they would miss that too. I have always been a little bit on the fence about these accusations against entertainers such as Madonna, with her occult Super-Bowl halftime show, and rappers like Jay-Z who clearly employ copious amounts of secret society symbolism. Are they really evil, deliberately spreading secret messages and brainwashing the masses, or is this stuff simply stage props? Are they actually members of secret societies, pawns doing the bidding of dark cabals, or just entertainers trying to make a buck by capitalizing on conspiracy theory?

First Contemporary Evidence of Biblical Jesus

It may be surprising for some to learn that, for most of history, there has been absolutely no archaeological evidence that Jesus the man ever existed. Sure, we have all sorts of written words starting a few hundred years after he was said to have lived, but there was no actual physical evidence other than these stories. No mention of Jesus in the Roman records, no tombs discovered of his contemporary followers, etc.

I always assumed that there was plenty of archaeological evidence. That Jesus the man was a given, that the only question related to his divinity and the religious implications of his existence. When I read the book Jesus in the House of the Pharaohs it blew my mind. Not only to learn that there was absolutely zero evidence that Jesus had ever existed, but also that Christianity might be over a thousand years older than we commonly accept today. In the book linked there, the author makes a very compelling argument that the central figure of Christianity was not a carpenter from Nazareth, but today's most famous pharaoh, Tutankhamen, or King Tut.

The book was a very interesting read, but his premise is now challenged by what may be the first physical evidence of Jesus, in the place and time we would expect...

Tomb exploration reveals first archaeological evidence of Christianity from the time of Jesus

The archaeological examination by robotic camera of an intact first century tomb in Jerusalem has revealed a set of limestone Jewish ossuaries or "bone boxes" that are engraved with a rare Greek inscription and a unique iconographic image that the scholars involved identify as distinctly Christian.

The four-line Greek inscription on one ossuary refers to God "raising up" someone and a carved image found on an adjacent ossuary shows what appears to be a large fish with a human stick figure in its mouth, interpreted by the excavation team to be an image evoking the biblical story of Jonah.

In the earliest gospel materials the "sign of Jonah," as mentioned by Jesus, has been interpreted as a symbol of his resurrection. Jonah images in later "early" Christian art, such as images found in the Roman catacombs, are the most common motif found on tombs as a symbol of Christian resurrection hope. In contrast, the story of Jonah is not depicted in any first century Jewish art and iconographic images on ossuaries are extremely rare, given the prohibition within Judaism of making images of people or animals.

The tomb in question is dated prior to 70 CE, when ossuary use in Jerusalem ceased due to the Roman destruction of the city. Accordingly, if the markings are Christian as the scholars involved believe, the engravings represent – by several centuries - the earliest archaeological record of Christians ever found. The engravings were most likely made by some of Jesus' earliest followers, within decades of his death. Together, the inscription and the Jonah image testify to early Christian faith in resurrection. The tomb record thus predates the writing of the gospels.

I am not really a super religious sort, so I tend to stay away from discussions along those lines. I don't often quote scripture or anything like that. But at the same time, regular readers here know that I am beyond fed up with the evils that are being perpetrated against the people of this country, supposedly for our own good. The Air Force, in response to an exclusive report published by Truthout earlier this week, has withdrawn materials used in a training session that relied upon passages from the New and Old Testament and a quote from an ex-Nazi SS officer to teach missile officers about the morals and ethics of launching nuclear weapons.

The Nuclear Ethics and Nuclear Warfare training "has been taken out of the curriculum and is being reviewed," said David Smith, chief of public affairs of Air Education and Training Command at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas. "The commander reviewed it and decided we needed to have a good hard look at it and make sure it reflected views of modern society."

Smith said the ethics training has been in place for "20-plus years" and the decision to remove it was made on Wednesday after Truthout's report was published. He added that it will now be "given thorough scrutiny" and "folks will be appointed to look at what we have and determine its utility and if they think its useful to continue having an ethics course they will develop a new course."

The course was led by Air Force chaplains and took place during a missile officer's first week in training at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Officers who train to be missileers were required to attend the ethics course, which included a PowerPoint presentation on St. Augustine's "Christian Just War Theory" as well as numerous examples of characters from the New and Old Testament the training materials asserted engaged in warfighting in a "righteous way."

St. Augustine's "Qualifications for Just War," according to the way the Air Force characterized it in slides used in the ethics training, are: "to avenge or to avert evil; to protect the innocent and restore moral social order (just cause)" and "to restore moral order; not expand power, not for pride or revenge (just intent)."

One of the PowerPoint slides also contained a passage from the Book of Revelation that claims Jesus Christ, as the "mighty warrior," believed some wars to be just.

At the conclusion of the ethics training session, missile officers were asked to sign a legal document stating they will not hesitate to launch the nuclear-armed Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) "if lawfully ordered to do so by the President of the United States or his lawful successor."

The documents' blatant use of religious imagery and its numerous references to the New and Old Testament would appear to constitute a violation of the First Amendment establishing a wall of separation between church and state.

The 43-page PowerPoint was included with more than 500 pages of other documents pertaining to a missile officer's first week in training that was released by the Air Force under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and provided to Truthout by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), a civil rights organization.

Another PowerPoint slide quoted Wernher Von Braun, a former member of the Nazi Party and SS officer who is regarded as the father of the US space program. Von Braun was not cited in the PowerPoint as a scientific expert, rather, he was specifically being referenced as a moral authority, which is remarkable considering that the Nazi scientist used Jews imprisoned in concentration camps, captured French anti-Nazi partisans, civilians, and others to help build the V-2, a weapon responsible for the death of thousands of British civilians.

MRFF President Mikey Weinstein said more than 30 missile officers contacted his organization over the past week to complain about the Christian imagery and biblical passages in the ethics training. He said the decision by the Air Force to pull the ethics course material is a "great victory for the constitution." [Full disclosure: Weinstein is a member of Truthout's Board of Advisers.]

"We are not going to commend the Air Force for doing something they should have done a quarter-century ago," Weinstein said. "It's an outrage and a deliberate attempt to torture and distort our constitution when the US Air Force mandatorily teaches its nuclear missile launch officers that fundamentalist Christian theology is inextricably intertwined with the 'correct' decision to launch nukes."

Gay marriage passes in NY

ALBANY — Thirty-three state senators have publicly declared they will support legalizing same-sex marriage, all but assuring passage of the measure which will make New York the largest state where gay and lesbian couples can wed.

The Senate took up the measure just before 10 p.m., and the Senate galleries were packed with gay couples in support of the bill and religious opponents of it.


Senator Stephen M. Saland, a Poughkeepsie Republican, became the critical 32nd vote, telling his colleagues in an emotional address that he believed the issue came down to a question of equality.


“I know my vote is a vote of conscience,” he told a hushed chamber. “I am at peace with my vote. It was a struggle. It was an extraordinary deliberation.”

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

FLORIDA- An atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days.

The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays..."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned!
