Cops busted for murder of teen girl in NY?

Info is very sketchy, but it appears that two officers from the town police department of historic Hyde Park, NY  have just been arrested for the murder of Katie Filiberti. One officer is said to be senior officer of the upstate department.

This info appears to be reliable, but thus far not confirmed or corroborated by a mainstream media outlet.

More info to follow.

Background info here...

This is gonna sound a little out-there, but bear with me for a second here. Let's say it was a coverup. The rumors have been swirling for a long time that people think a cop might have had something to do with it. How do you put those rumors to bed?

You start a lie that two cops were arrested so that the theory loses all credibility. So from now on, as months and years roll by, no one will think it was a coverup... even if it really was.

Mental chess. Genius propaganda.

"I can promise you that you will all feel foolish come tomorrow."

Why?ou know something is happening tomorrow? Who are you, that we should believe you over anyone else? These stories didnt start yesterday. They have been going around Hyde Park and Poktown for awhile now.

Anonymous said...

Anon @ 1:15, do you think that the dirtbags that started these lies care about Katie? Because they dont. Theyre trash. Rumors initially originate from liars, and while everyone may be "spreading what they heard", the liars that started them have succeeded in making fools of you. I would tell you who i believe are the individuals who started the lies are, but unlike people in here that post things theyre not 100% about, i cant post their names in good conscience. You continue believing what you want; i can promise you, you are NOT going to see an officer arrested/suspended relating to this case.

Anonymous said...

I heard it from the wife of a cop, so I thought it was pretty reliable. But I don't know where she got the info from, I didn't ask. She was very upset, and I just assumed she pretty much got it from the horse's mouth.

Anonymous said...

@ anon 1:30, i'm referring to the fact that everyone is waiting for pojo to release some "breaking news" on an arrest, and its not going to happen. And who i am isnt important, but i can promise you that i have more reliable info than anybody else that has posted here. No cop involved, period. And the reason it is still tight-lipped? It is a PENDING investigation! Do you want them to just give up looking and give all of you the info they have? People are sheep, you have to start using common sense. Its just amazing how dense some people are...

Anonymous said...

@ anon 1:29, you watch WAY too many movies; get some sun.

Anonymous said...

i wouldt be surprised if no arrests are made, especially if the police are involved. its a long road from suspect to a guilty verdict and i doubt the chain of evidence is intact.... just guessin'

Jackinthbox said...

Pending investigation my ass. They won't even let the medical examiner publicly state that it was in fact a homicide. Their silence is unprecedented.

Anonymous said...

Jackinthbox, are you kidding? Look on pojonews, its already been declared a homicide. Geez, do your homework...

Jackinthebox said...

Freaken wow. Here we go again. 1:42, you need to learn a thing or two about how a death is investigated. Just because the police began the investigation as a homicide investigation, does not make it so. It is the Medical Examiner, and the Medical Examiner alone who determines the manner of death. That ruling has never been made public.

Anonymous said...

Like anon just posted a few minutes ago....the investigation is pending! they cant release info. that includes any autposy or leads or anything...It is procedure and I am sure they want this case solved as soon as possible as well...All these rumors are doing is sidetracking the investigation and removing the attention away from whats important...the truth and the actual facts...

Anonymous said...

"I can promise you that you will all feel foolish come tomorrow."

Why? Whats happening tomorrow that you seem to know about?

"Its a pretty obvious guess as to who started the rumors, and you would be embarrassed if you realized who it was."
So, you know exactly who started the rumors?? An, why would any of us be embarrassed by this person? Is it the mayor of Poughkeepsie?

"There is a VERY good reason the FBI is here, and it has nothing to do with investigating officers."

And, you know all this how? Are you a cop or something? Why should we take your word over anyone elses? Until the facts come out, its all just hearsay, rumors, and opions, including your statements.

Jackinthebox said...

What a load of crap. There have been plenty of homicide investigations around here over the years, including another girl who was just found in a park. They released plenty of info. Not specific details that would undermine the case, but still put out plenty of info. This case stinks to high heaven.

And there is no reason the ME can't say this it is indeed a homicide, even if she doesn't state the cause of death, she can still rule on the manner of death.

Anonymous said...

Jackinthbox, i apologize, i did not realize you were a detective. Let me guess... S.O.? I'm not surprised...

Jackinthebox said...

So now only detectives are qualified to know the facts? Get a clue fool. The ME rules on the manner of death. End of story.

Anonymous said...

@Jackinthebox - Maybe because 'No comment' Broe is no longer in charge.

Anonymous said...

If another agency took over as the lead, that should have been reported in the news. If it wasn't, reason again to be suspicious.

Anonymous said...

Right now the investigaters are the only ones qualified to know the facts...I am sure the ME has ruled on the manner of death. Just cause the ME ruled doesnt mean its to be published for the world to read during an open ongoing investigation. Too many cheifs not enought indians!

Anonymous said...

Anon @ 1:49, you must have skipped over my previous post... tomorrow, as in, nothing is going to "come out"! Thats what i know! And it doesnt matter who i am, but i can promise i have the best info in this room. Cant tell you how, sorry. And you would be embarrassed because it is most likely the dirtball that lives in the back of the trailer park, or the one that hangs out at the eveready every night. Quit being sheep.

Jackinthebox said...

There is no reason to bar the ME from ruling on the manner of death. And in fact, not letting her make her statement, as promised, has only inflamed the rumors.

Now the cops are throwing a hissy fit because they are on the wrong end of the rumors. Didn't see them make a statement clearing the brothers, but they sure came out right away to defend the thing blue line.

Anonymous said...

Jackinthbox, maybe its because the brothers were actual suspects? Wouldnt that make more sense?!

Station Six Underground said...

I would be interested to know who certain people believe started this rumor. Please drop me an email if you think you know who started it and why. I'm not going to be publishing any names here, but it could give me some insight into how I came by this information to begin with and thought it was credible enough to post.

Anonymous said...

I still want to know how the police are so convinced that are kids are so safe even though they have no clue who did this.

Anonymous said...

Jack you live in a world far from reality...The borthers I am sure may have been suspects nobody in this room is part of the investigation so noone here knows whats happened or happening completely in investigation...Stop accusing a mislead investigation til the full story is released. And I can assure you like 1:58 said nothing happened and nothing will be breaking news tomorrow. Let the investigators do their jobs...noone goes to your job and tells you how to do yours!

Anonymous said...

Station6, i would love to tell you, but since i dont post unconfirmed information, i cant. Everything i have posted so far is 100% fact, and i dont want to put someones name out there(even if they are scumbags) without being completely sure. Theyve been happening for so long that its probably impossible to trace them back, anyway.

Station Six Underground said...

I just want to know if it is someone tied to my sources. I had two independent sources tell me this info. They only asked that I not name the officers. So now I am trying to see if their credibility could have been compromised by this person or persons who may have started the rumor. I would also like to gain some insight in my ponderings why the hell someone would do this.

Anonymous said...

station6, its because, believe it or not, some people are out to get hppd. And they dont just make this stuff up for no reason, they actually BELIEVE what theyre telling people. Theyre mentally sick, and thats not me trying to be funny; they actually have serious mental issues. Problem is, people hear it and spread it, so at the end of the day, the whole community believes what these sick individuals made up. Idk what else to tell everyone, youre wasting your time and energy trying to scapegoat those officers. I'm done trying to convince you people to grow up and use common sense. I cant imagine how demoralized the officers must feel right now, knowing that the town they swore to protect with their lives doesnt support them... God bless them...

Anonymous said...

And, how would the ME announcing it was a homicide jeapordize the investigation, Mr Expert, with all the facts? Give me a break! Katie's body was dumped in an area, where only a local person would even know about. But, it was right by the road. So, they obviously were in a panic, and looking to get rid of the body fast, with very little chance of being seen. But, not taking time to hide her, because they could have easily crossed the road from that park and brought her way into the woods, where it may have taken days or weeks to find her. So, I would think that, in their haste, there would be plenty of evidence. So, why, Mr Expert, is this investigation taking so long, if there is nothing 'shady' going on?

Anonymous said...

It's not mental illness when the police are incompetent or when police beat up on innocent people. HPPD is no better than any other department.

Anonymous said...

amen 2:20 its sad how quick stuff here goes around....They will hate on the HPPD but the minute something is wrong they will be the first calling. I know the family of one of the accused and I feel so bad for them cause they have had to defend their innocence when this should have never happened..And they are good people. they didnt deserve this....Everyone just needs to let the investigation take its course and when the truth is revealed it will be released. And people here believing this nonsense will be ashamed that they helped the spread of the rumors

Anonymous said...

I saw two HP cops beat the crap out of my neighbor one night for no reason at all. They thought he did something he didn't do and decided to beat the shit out of him for it. Yeah, real professional. I won't even let my kids pull over for a Hyde Park cop since I saw that. I told them to drive straight home with the cop following.

Anonymous said...

2:28, youre either a liar or leaving something out. And 2:26, the people making this up wont be ashamed, theyll just start preparing the next rumor. Even when the pojo said there were no arrests, people resorted to suspension. When suspension is ruled out, they'll move back to suspicion. Its an endless game, theres no educating the ignorant

Anonymous said...

2:28, great parenting. Wonder how long it will take your kids to start doing heroin like half of the other HP juveniles. No wonder kids dont have respect for their own parents anymore; i wouldnt respect you, either.

Anonymous said...

2:39. So in your world all police are perfect and anyone who says otherwise is a liar huh?

And 2:42. Maybe if Katie's parents had told her to stay away from cops she would still be alive.

Anonymous said...

2:48, what an asinine post. Let me ask you a question... can you name a single job in the entire world where every single person is a good person? Because i cant. Even the cardinals were touching little boys. And you talk with a lot of confidence for someone who is going off of baseless rumors. Youre an embarrassment to society.

Station Six Underground said...

Well, no one bothered to email me who they thought started these rumors and why, so I have no way to determine of said "scumbag" had anything to do with my sources.

So what we wind up with is someone making rumors about someone making rumors.

I for one am pretty pissed off and embarrassed by this. I would like to know how and why I was duped like so many other people in town.

That is of course, IF we were duped. Won't know for sure until tomorrow. Despite the press statement, and even considering the statement, something still seems fishy to me.

Jackinthebox said...

2:53, you were awful sure a few minutes ago that all cops were perfect when you called that other poster a liar.

Jackinthebox, "beating the crap" out of someone isnt something that would be taken lightly in ANY dept. It is a sad day when people provoke police that have done NOTHING to deserve these accusations, while at the same time believing some guy that said he "saw something". What if i made up a story saying that guy that posted beats his wife? Will everyone just believe me without proof like they do everything else on this page? And station6, i told you that you werent going to know who i believe started the rumors because i am not 100% positive... and its not a rumor that someone is starting rumors, it is a FACT that someone is spreading lies. Period.

Station Six Underground said...

Anon 3:04. Thanks for sharing the info, but when quoting from an outside source, please include a url.

That post was copied from Injustice Anywhere, and their police misconduct feed can be veiwed at this link...

Ok 3:04, youre right, all cops are terrible terrible people and it is super easy to become one because towns actually SEARCH for bad people during the hiring process. Is that what you want? But youll argue for a criminals rights any day of the week. Disgusting.

Jackinthebox said...

Taken lightly? Are you kidding me, cops get away with crap like that on a daily basis, in ANY department.

And I don't mean to speak for Station6, but why should any of us believe your "facts" over his sources? Who the hell are you? Looks like you're already backpedaling since you were so sure you knew who was starting the rumors, now you're not so sure. Did you ever send Station6 an email with a name?

Station Six Underground said...

I have to admit, I am no big fan of the police in general myself. Not just because of the many bad apples that keep turning up who are indeed downright criminals with badges, but also because of cops who abuse their authority legally. Like the Rochester cop who arrested that girl for standing in her front lawn with a camera. Sure, he was able to think up some bullshit law to arrest her on legally, but clearly he was abusing his authority and the same when his buddies came back the next day ticketing all her friends for being a few centimeters too far away from the curb.

http://stationsixunderground.blogspot.com/2011/06/rochester-police-swarm-neighborhood.html

Now don't get me wrong, I can't say that I hate cops outright, I have a few in my family, and there's one guy on the HPPD specifically that I think is a hell of a great guy, but just the same, I don't trust cops for nothin.

Station Six Underground said...

Okay ladies and germs, I think that just about does it for now. I have to be to work in a few hours and need a nap before I go. I shall return sometime mid afternoon, and then we will see what we will see if there has indeed been some real news being stalled all along, or if a whole lot of us got suckered big time.

In the meantime though, and regrettably, I will have to close comments to make sure things don't get out of hand. I don't have any moderators on staff just a few contributing authors that have been helping me out. Anyway, for the time-being comments will be locked so that they are not visible until an admin has approved them.

Cheers folks.

Katie, may peace be brought to your rest soon.

Wow! Thanks for he link anon 10:02. So it appears there is indeed some truth to the rumors.

Anonymous said...

Ok its just a DNA sample...lets not blow it outta proportion. Think logical for one minute. these public figures that have been accused by many of the residents they protect and serve for no other reason than ignorance. So why wouldnt the department the town and assisting agencies just give the cops a DNA test to rule them out so that they can just go back to whats important...the actual investigation to go after the real suspects. Broe should just sample the whole department cause once you guys learn the truth that DNA doesnt match you guys will just point a finger at another cop or just twist the story some more. Shit while they at it why not just sample the whole town. this is getting outta hand.. lets stop the rumors the pointing of fingers and let them do their job without civilians being critics

Jackinthebox said...

Oh sure, just let cops do their job... covering up a murder. One of the cops has a "relationship" with Katie which makes him every bit as much of a suspect as the tow truck drivers boys. If not more so even given the nature of this investigation.

Anonymous said...

Ok Jack prove the cop had a relationship with Katie...Again. you are part of the reason this shit has gone too far...You believe everything you hear think and everything...Why dont you just move to China you would do great in a communist country...If this was a cover up, you think multiple agencies would be involved? If you read the story which you seem to know all the details Broe asked FBI to get involved to help with evidence so they can investigate to the fullest...Yeah thats a cover up. Bring in an agency that without hestitate would bust any local town cop in a heart beat for political and promotional reasons....They are doing their job sorry that your so heartbroken that they dont include you in their daily investigation. but thats life. if you hate the way the department runs their business why dont you join the police department and do something about it. until then your just running your mouth and accusing people and the department of something you have no idea about.

Station Six Underground said...

Anon 3:49. An officer did indeed have a relationship with the victim, as now reported in the lead story on this blog.

Anonymous said...

There are many many different types of relationships she had a love relatiohship with a boyfriend she had a relationship on a teacher-student level with every teacher she had. parental relationships with her family and role models in her life. We have all kinda of relationships with everyone we meet. Its a social psychology level basic study/term. nothing was said what kinda relationship...we all hear relationship and all of a sudden we all wanna assume the worse..it still does not make anyone a murderer or any kinda criminal. Everyone is jumping on any word said and making their own conclusions and pointing fingers and people wonder why no information is released

Jackinthebox said...

Well, right from the beginning there was talk of another, or ex boyfriend who showed up at the party. I wonder if it was a town cop investigating a house party.

Station Six Underground said...

Anon 4:25, you are absolutely correct. There are different sorts of relationships and DNA evidence is not limited to sexual encounters. However, whatever the nature of the relationship between her and an officer/officers, it was close enough to warrant collection of DNA and a sit-down meeting with the Chief to discuss the nature of that relationship.

Anonymous said...

What cop uses a knife though? Seems a little implausible.

Anonymous said...

Every cop carries a tactical folder. And it's a better murder weapon. No ballistics, no noise. But of course, that still doesn't mean it was a cop. Could just have been some sicko who gets off on stabbing people. And that is of course, all assuming that she was stabbed at all.

Anonymous said...

Six lets also realize that a warrent is only needed if the subject refuses. The subjects can willingly volunteer to submit their DNA and done without any warrent or order. So this as well like said before could be just a way to clear their name. It may not be because they are a suspect just so many people pointing fingers that are only given partial information from investigation. Broe could have talked to them due to rumors and had a conversation on hit to clear up any ends of story...But right now nobody knows which side is right...were they forced to give DNA? probably not cause there was no mention of a warrent and warrents can take some time and in need of evidence before judge will sign off on it.. This seemed to be quick so chances are they willingly gave up their DNA for comparision. Now does that sound like your felony criminals?

Station Six Underground said...

Waiting for a warrant would only make a person look more guilty, like they had something to hide, sadly, since it is everyone's right to refuse. I would refuse. But for a cop to refuse? That would look real bad since police are always the ones trying to get people to submit to such tests without a warrant, and without advice from a lawyer.

Aside from that, whoever the guilty person actually is, if they were confident that they had not left DNA evidence behind, they would be more confident in submitting to a test. The scary part there is that a cop may have had access to destroy evidence linking their DNA to the case. I am not saying that is true, just a possibility here.

And lastly, anyone who submits DNA is a suspect, however far-fetched the suspicion on them may be. If they were not suspect, there would be no point in taking DNA.

Anonymous said...

Ok six...lets put this in another prospective....if the whole town sat around saying you murdered someone...(just giving a story to try to relate) and you didnt do it. the police have no leads on you or not even considering you a suspect...And your name was spread bad like it was yesurday around town. you watched your family be hurt by this accusation and your boss came to you and said look i know you didnt do this. lets clear your name lets try to get your life as well as your families life back to some sort of normalcy give me a sample of your DNA we will have it compared and when the DNA doesnt match and go public with it maybe some of these critics will back off and let you do your job correctly. would you give your DNA and if so does that make you a suspect?

Anonymous said...

Noone makes anyone read this... and just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it gets around town more than it did in the good old days when people talked all over town... and believe me, they still do... It just reflects people's feelings and impressions, and gives them a place to speak about things they harbor inside. No matter how you cut it, as long as this goes unsolved, there will be people hurting, because of rumors, because they need closure, whatever... In the end, this is a place to talk... and listen... as for the FACTS they will come out... and it takes more than a bunch of lines on a page here to provide positive proof of anything. how people feel is how they feel, and part of learning is being able to discuss things... as every college student knows. I don't think anyone really intended to hurt anyone with this, I think they are just frustrated and since there's nothing more they can do, they have to talk and try to come to terms with it all until a conclusion is afforded. Anyone who deals with the public should well know this is inevitable and be aware of the fact that they will have to deal with it... just as the pop stars, actors, politicians, etc. do in the tabloids every day.

Station Six Underground said...

Anon 5:16. No, I would not submit to a DNA test without a warrant. Just like I would not let police into my house without a warrant.

Anonymous said...

5:21 yes this is a way that society vents their emotions..We all feel horrible for what happened with Katie and for her family friends and all...we all want the truth and the criminals to pay for their actions. We also live in a era that is very technologically dependent. We all have cell phones with internet labtops when we go to the local starbucks. If something is posted on the internet it will be found. Its a small town, word travels fast most people have a connection with everyone in area. so anything on the internet will be talked about especially in a high profile case like this. My problem like I have said people have stated names that have not been released by any authority figure. Those names traveled and have effected more than people know. Everyones focused on a cop or a few cops based on their own judgement. and if thats what they wanna believe thats their opinoin thats fine we all have the right to a opinion but dont start rumors based on your opinion with names publically unless you can back your shit up. which none of us can.

Anonymous said...

Why dont you all wait for the truth to come out!! When it does its not gonna be good and there will probably be no more HPP department!!

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:16,
I agree with your whole point about taking the rumored cops DNA and going public with the "no-match" to clear their names. My complaint is that the HPPD did clear the ex-BF and Brother by taking their DNA and releasing the "no-match" results. It seems like they were all hush on everything, until the rumors about their own started, then they released information about DNA to clear themselves.

You write, “Everything i have posted so far is 100% fact”

All you have posted is rambling and rants about how you have more information than anyone here.
==
@ anon June 29, 2011 2:26 AM you write, “ Everyone just needs to let the investigation take its course and when the truth is revealed it will be released.”

So we are supposed to shut and go away? All it takes for corruption to breed is SILENCE.

And you further write, “And people here believing this nonsense will be ashamed that they helped the spread of the rumors”

Did you know it is the job of the police to NOT let rumors start in the first place, and to stop them in their tracks and this tasks are accomplished with press releases. No one here should be ashamed of anything, we were told to go about our daily routines,” a huge presumption of safety during an alleged homicide investigation. Far too many horses (rumors) slipped out before the barnyard door(PD) closed.

Justice for Katie is long overdue!

There needs to be more pressure put on local authority to release SOME information. The only information that has been released to date was due to pressure by the public. I'm not saying rumors need to be spread purposely, but the public has to keep up the fight for answers..ANY ANSWERS!

Station Six Underground said...

The only information the police have given us, points directly to the police being suspect. It's really little wonder why the public believe a cop did it.
